Throwing down the Gauntlet to the "Nipper" AKA Ian my beloved Nephew
12 Comps next Year,one a Month (obviously),five hour duration.Jan,Feb and December will be Day Time Comps,two hook max
March through to November Night Comps and I,m thinking 3 Hook Max but Pennel will only count as one
hook. Its going to be Points and nominated species on the Day/Night. One point for turning up so
Nipper should score at least 7 or 8 points over the next 12 Months ........
Finer points have yet to be ironed out but hopefully it will give us the incentive to make the
effort more than we did in 2013

A good idea but.....
I think to make it a fair challenge ,you should only use one hook.
After all, us experienced anglers, of the right disposition and experience , know how and where to catch the fish they set out to get.
Where as the younger fraternity , who are, well lets face it, somewhat niave in the ways of fishing , should be given this chance, to have a three to one advantage.
Naturally, your Nipper will give you 3-1 odds on the challenge , but they all have to learn the hard way, don't they.

Its an interesting thought Old Fart but I cant see Ian going along with it
I would be quite up for it myself - save a fortune in bait for a start and
it would certainly sort out the men from the boys

Negotiate the odds and take 2/1.
Also remember that when you beat him he will never....ever.... be able to live it down, and should he hit lucky and actually catch some fish,, then well,, you gave him 3/1
No pressure on him then !
Besides that, it would wind him up a treat!!
And think of the bragging rights

I,m not the bragging kind old fart but have been known to make an exception in nippers case
before now - looking forward to the day comps - should be able to build up an early lead in
the Flounder comps and go on from there :-)

Not sure about the "few more" but one a month is manageable provided it doesn't coincide with date or kid nights!! Fancy trying a one off boat trip in the summer too?!

So that casts immediate restrictions - we only get to fish as and when you don't have the kids or there's a bonk in the offing ...... right - heres my restrictions then nip - one rod - two hooks
max - every comp - that will definitely sort the men from the boys - it will cut down on Bait outlay and we can use the same rod rest(less for me to carry as we will use yours). Nah re Boat

Ha, tried those a few years ago!!!
Mrs Old Fart said she had the best three days of her life after that.
The bloody things gave me a blinding migraine, and I had to go to bed, in a dark room ,alone.
That meant that Mrs Old Fart could sunbathe without me trying to ravage her body.
Mind you she did get nice and brown, all over!
