Preserving bait methods

Hi ,with price of bait now days I am looking to collecting Razorfish , slipper limpet, mussels and lugworm etc and would appreciate any advice on freezing or salting methods and the like for them , thanks in advance for any help

I would imagine you could salt and wrap Razor Fish and Mussels in Newspaper like they

wrap Black Lug Mate same with slipper

Squeeze the inards out of the black lug , wrap singley in newspaper and freeze.
Freeze mussels in their shells , drop in warm water for a few seconds when needed and open before completely thawed. wrap with bait elastic when on the hook.

The best way to preserve bait is do it like we used to do when I was younger before we had freezers. 

Just get what ever bait you have, get a big jam jar or better still one of those big sweet jars and pack the bait in layers of salt. 

Try to keep it a year before you use it.

By that time it will have gone nice and leathery and won't come off the hook.

You won't catch bugger all on it, so it lasts for years, but at least you will be out fishing and not spending money.

Basically,if you want to catch fish, use fresh bait!!

Just done a bit of "googling" on this, TOF has mentioned the most popular option, others include soaking them in oil before salting and then using bait elastic or - surprisingly, cut sections of the missus' tights to form into little bait sausages!!

Tip from an Old Fart.

NEVER let the wife buy tights. 

Stockings every time!

Mind you, it may cut down the nights you go fishing.
