Alphabet Fishing Comps

The problem with open comps is that there are some sneaky beaky bastards out there who cheat.

We all know that there are hundreds of ways to cheat,and if it's heaviest bag it's all too easy.

Soooo....How about this

On the night of the comp, you put all the letters of the Alphabet into a bag, shake well then draw out ,say, five letters.

Every fish caught of the species beginning with the first letter gets 5 points.

So if the first letter out was S ,any Sole,Smelt,Smooth Hound is worth 5 points.

If the second letter is B , then Bass,Bream etc are worth 4 points.

Third letter three points, etc

With modern communications, web sites, twitter etc it would be easy to find out what the letters drawn out are, and it is hard to cheat.

The one with the most points wins, in event of a tie it goes on weight.

Could be interesting, as you wouldn't know what to fish for untill the last minute .

O, Oarsish

U,  Urau

Well ok the Urau, happens to live in the upper reaches of the Orinoco River in South America, but it's a bloody poor turn out if people can't be bothered to drive to Heathrow, fly to the USA then on to South America, charter a boat up the Orinoco catch a Urau then bring it back for the weigh in. Before returning it to the river.
