Every year we are faced with the same problem because of the light mornings.
Some anglers have booked a charter boat,so need to be at the quay just after 'Sparrows Fart '
Some anglers own boats and need to be out before 'Sparrows' to get to the right spot in time for the tide.
And some anglers, also need to be up early to get down the beach or river at first light to hit the early morning Bass, Mullet, etc.
But for what ever reason we make the early start, we have the same old problem.
The Morning Daybreaker!
Now although this is essential to retain good marital relations, I must admit that I can't even raise a smile at 4.30 am.
This is such a shame as Mrs Old Fart is normally in a deep sleep at that time,so it would be a good time to catch her unawares, but it's too bloody early.
But if you slip back into the marital bed, to perform the morning ritual, after you have woken yourself up with three strong coffees and a couple of fags, then you miss the tide.
Now that brings in the other problem.
Failure to consummate the 'daybreaker' every morning, can have serious consequences!
The other half may get used to getting a full nights sleep until 8am
You can't concentrate on the fishing after 9am because 'Mr Wiggy' has woken up, so you go home, but to no avail because the other half is cleaning and 'you can forget that, because you were the one who got up so early'
And them you spend all day being a miserable Basxxard, because you have missed the fishing not had the morning 'Daybreaker' and are walking round will balls like watermelons all day.
Then to make it worse you take the dog out for a walk, and try to think about the fact that 'Jimmy Crankie' is really a woman to take your mind off of things, and you see the biggest flock of birds working just where you should be fishing.
So you make the decision that you will defiantly be out there fishing the next day just as the sun is up.
Until you yet again face the dreaded choice, get up and actually go fishing, or stay in bed and continue the morning ritual.
All summer long we have to face this dreadful dilemma .
So it seems that after all there is something to be said for the long winter nights when it doesn't get light until about 8 am ,after all!
