Finally, after so many cancelled trips, daddy duties, work etc etc I finally got a window, the winds were high but i would not be denied!!
I've been pestering Tony (Wavechief) for the past god knows how long, getting tips, hints, badgering for a trip out, i got a window, so did he, game on!!
I got there a bit earlier and, being the impatient sort, buggered off out on my tod. The winds were around the 20mph mark, the original plan was to head out to the middle of the solent and go Thornie hunting but, after leaving Wootton creek, getting hit broadside by a big gust my bottle went a bit and i simply anchored up off of Chapel corner and waited for Tony!
I wanted to name the kayak and figured something after whatever was first caught might suffice...
But these buggers weren't going to count!
Tony arrived, we had a brief chin wag, he went out to try a bit further but, accepting the weather was a bit too poo and, probably in order to keep an eye on me came in close to shore aswell
I was using rag, squid and crab, big baits on one, scratchy stuff on the other, i'd missed a couple of rattles but finally connected with one, then another
Looking over i saw Tony into what looked a good fish and turned out to be quite a good smutt pup, a few more rattles ensued but it was mainly death by crab so, after another hour or so it was "anchors up" and back to base
A big thankyou to Tony for being a fount of all knowledge, supplier of gear/info and being genuinely happy to help, the bug has well and truly bit and i can't wait to get back out there
Oh yeah, her name, after the first fish? Ladies and Gents, let me introduce
