I recently listened to 'Talk Sport' radio ,and they were saying that golf is in the decline as it is too expensive .
Well.....let's take Ryde Golf club for example.
membership is around £550 a year.
After that, you have to pay for lost balls, tees, and pencils, assuming you have bought the clubs, which can last a lifetime.
So let's say it cost around £12 a week
Fishing, assuming you have the basic tackle.
Bait, at least £10 a week.
hooks, weights,swivels etc £5
Could be club membership say 50p a week
Nammet to take with you on nights £5
Torch batteries or gas for Tilly. 50p a week
If you have a boat,or go on charter trips £10 a week over the year
Thats £1,612 a year. Around £30 a week
So ,,it costs two and a half times as much to go fishing as it does to join the golf club!
Elitist sport is fishing, only for the rich!
