Technically i should be sleeping in between night shifts at the moment but i couldn't help myself with the way the weather is at the mo!! Armed myself with a load of ragworm and a few peelers and made an attempt to snare me a decent billy. Time restraints meant i couldn't go out too far so fishbourne seemed an obvious choice, easy to launch from with plenty of shingle and mud banks with oodles of gullies and features. Chill time!! I anchored up about 2 hours before high tide and was straight into action, i'm guessing schoolies or bream to begin with as it was a case of hit, miss, bait gone!! But then, something a bit different! I managed to snare one billy before high tide but not the size i was after!! The hour before and after high water was completely barren, but just as i was considering another move the billies returned with me getting another 2 of similar size to the previous one. Whilst unhooking one i missed a stonking smash up on the crab rod, hammered the rod round, re-positioned the nose of my yak, robbed said crab and buggered off!! Guessing at a good sized smutt, after a few profanities were uttered and a bit more schoolie action unfortunately it was time for work Still, a nice little trip out, will have to try an evening one there next methinks....
