The wind speed and direction has been putting the kybosh on the Yak dangling recently, couple this with no chance of an FP in the near future i had to chance it last night. It was a bit lumpy to begin with But soon the winds dropped and the rays came out to play Tony (Wavechief) joined me shortly after i anchored and it didn't take long for him to join in on the action too, main baits used were squid, mackerel, sandeel and worm. I'd had three painteds, dogs, a conger and a bass which sportingly spat the hooks back at me on the surface when, after a much heftier scrap a bloody great ray surfaced off the bow of my kayak and, as it dived back down the unmistakeable patterns of an undulate caught in my headlight A few more spirited dives and i figured the undy was finally done, i reached across, lifted the snood line, the undy struggled one last time and TING...... the snood broke........it'd been weakened/chewed from the previous fish... I swore a wee bit. It took me about 5 minutes to calm myself and this little fella cheered me up as a bit of variety I finished off with four painteds, a spotty, two dogs and an eel, Tony was the ray king of the night with nine in total, a mix of painteds, thornies and a spotty plus a dog. All in all a bloody good night, aside from losing yet another bloody undulate by the side of the yak. I also managed to re-learn why it's always important to keep a tight grip on a doggy too....

Thing is boys - you get so few reply s to your blogs these days from the apathetic peeps that inhabit this forum I thought I would big you up a bit with a triple whammy - that and my lap top was playing up...... I may be guilty of getting old young nephew but not guilty of accusations 2 & 3 ..... as for 4,well I dont guess I will be around when you hit 60 and neither would I want to be but I reckon you will probably be carrying a few wrinkles too

Great report. And great fishing. Is there a stealth aspect to yak angling because that's a great haul but I'm guessing it was not too far offshore? I'd have been pleased with that from the boat a few miles out:-)

I'd have been pleased with that from the boat a few miles out:-) This mark is around a mile offshore and about 50 feet deep mate but also, on a stealth aspect, the yak doesn't slap around on the waves much unless it's pretty lumpy, it's a great form of fishing
