Passing this on from another forum,
'Needs to flash on the busier pages to get attention, so apologies mods. Not interested in debate, or being attacked by scallop dredgers, or stuff like that. Simply want you guys to know (if it didnt get covered already) that there is a simple petition (1 min to do it) asking for the government, to listen to the scientific advisors they pay for advice, when they are shouting that there needs to be an 80 percent reduction in the landings of bass, to prevent a total collapse of the stock. That can be found here -https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-our-sea-bass?

Please sign it, and share it to fishy people everywhere, via as many social networks as you use. Remember, bass NEED YOU. Really, they do just now. Government only gets nervous from one thing. Strong public opinion. The more signatures, the more chances they will listen to their scientists.'

Done it - I have definitely caught less breeding size bass caught in the last two years.

Always worth speaking up on this. But as well as controlling the commercials, anglers need to conserve stocks too. Anglers are responsible for between 30 and 50% of the total take.
