It's been a while since my last pass co-incided with a weather/wind window but, thankfully, Nov 5th managed both! Tony (wavechief) John and myself met up and, after wrapping up like mitchelin men, started paddling out about 1630 from Sandown, myself going for a last gasp Undy or, hopefully, a pig Straight from the off i got pestered by little stuff but then, something a little better showed some interest in my mackerel bait The annoyance fish turned out be these fellas (apologies for the poor photography!) Then, this fat fella, whilst being unhooked projectile barfed a giant sandeel onto me!! I then had three congers on the bounce, one, an easy PB for me from the yak, guesstimated around the 25lb mark It quietened down for a bit, Tony went off exploring the bay looking for other potential marks on his fishfinder, John, feeling the cold a bit more than the dry suited duo paddled in and i, to finish off managed another thornie and this almighty great pout, just shy of 16" and fatter than Uncle Snoops!! The only rays caught between us were all Thornbacks a sure sign that the summer species have buggered off for the time being, we all had a few eels, dogs, pout and whiting to keep us entertained too, not the most prolific trip but still enjoyable, certainly beat standing on the shore watching my rod tips do as little as possible on a cold winters evening! Ciao for now
