So – according to the site, the minimum shore caught landing size for Bass is 18 inches – that’ll be a 2 and a half to 3 pounder - (personal estimate).
Yet for Cod, the size is lower at 14 inches – despite the bigger head and slimmer tail – around the 2lb mark – (again, a personal estimate).
As I wouldn’t consider any of those fish as keepers until they get into the 3 ½ lb to 6 lb range for Bass, or the 15 lb to 30 lb range for Cod, this, (plus the fact that I’m on the mainland), is unlikely to affect me – but ……….
I can’t help thinking that those minimums should be the other way around.
While we’re at it, given that the biggest of both species are the breeders – where’s the “maximum” limit ?
It seems to me, that whilst the site begins to address some of the issues, it’s still missing the “Elephant in the room”.
Just my sixpence worth ……..

Hi Purple
The Angling Trust minimum size limits are recommended competition size limits whereas the SIFCA size limits are the legal minimum retention size limits. I have added a note to the page to that effect.
Their is no upper size limits, but I am aware the it was discussed some years ago relating to certain species.
