Finally - smashed the jinx!!

I've had one trip since the last installment but it went a bit Pete Tong and just resulted in dogfish central.
Getting a bit twitchy for a fix i've been closely monitoring the winds/weather that co-incide with free days or, in this case, half day! Being a half day i thought it best to start at 0330!!
My first attempt was off of Sandown, a beautiful sunrise but being further out i was caught in a stronger wind, far too lumpy for comfort unfortunately



A long paddle out for nothing but i wasn't going to quit just yet, time for option number 2 - Shanklin



Now, as you may be aware i've been having trouble with the Undulates, they've been my bogey fish all last year and the beginning of this, i've lost 4 by the side of the yak and watched everyone else catch them around me whilst i caught everything else but Undies!
But today, and a few dogfish in that all changed



Kerching!!!!! AT LAST!!!!! Followed immediately by Undy No2 - this one was minus a tail though!





I then just hit hound central, more dogs than a certain home in Battersea! But then something else put a decent bend into my rod

A few more dogs followed by a fairly thornless thorny!





Whilst playing the thorny i missed an absolute car crash of a bite on the other rod, I can only presume it was a bass or smutt. A few more doggies followed before duty called and i had to up anchor.
I finished with 2 undulates, a thorny, a spotty and a dozen litters of doggies, not a bad haul for a daytime trip
So chuffed to finally break the Undy duck

I am currently working on Culver Parade and watching the netting with dismay. it now looks to be within approx 500 m of the shore.
Your blogs show how successful the yak fishing can be.

Cheers buddy, the netting can be - is usually quite bad in the bay, especially when the Bream begin to show. Mind you, I made the mistake yesterday of mentioning what i thought were nets laid out from the Stinkpot through to Sandown pier but they were in fact pot buoys - it was just the way the owner of the pots had set up the buoys - they laid out for quite a way across the water before sinking

You could still cast into them if you were fishing low tide and there were loads
