As some of you may have been aware Tony (Wavechief) was involved in a nasty car accident back in March which, without getting too technical, fractured his spine. Initial prognosis from the quacks pretty much wrote off his dangling season but, after many months of missing out and regular check ups a few days back he got the all clear to have a dabble provided he took it easy on lifting owt heavy - like his kayak - which is where i came in!!
Wind and tides were perfect for Shanklin, figured it'd be rude not to!
A beautiful afternoon/evening but lets get to the dangling!
A gentlemans bet between us for biggest undulate and the game was on!
Tony was first up with a small thornback (breaking himself in gently!) and i followed suit with a wee spotty
A few dogfish later and there were some smarmy chuckles from Tony's direction, he'd bagged the first undy! But, not to be outdone my next take was a bit more promising...
Another big'un, unfortunately marginally smaller than Tony's even if i did have a little added weight advantage....
It then turned into a bit of a species fest for me after that with bream
Smutts
And yet more dogs and pout.
I'd recently purchased a Tronix Warrior 10-20lb class rod which is light as a feather and bendy as you like, i was dying to get something decent on it.....
My biggest fish on it yet, another double undy but smaller than my last one, Tony was still winning...
While it was still light something huge and blobby floated past, not Uncle Snoops but yet another one of these - becomming rather common around our way at the mo...
As it got dark i was really hoping a few eels would come out to play but it wasn't to be, it just turned into doggy central, i even snagged two of the damn things on a pennel rig
Well, it turned out to be Tony's night ref the hunt for biggest Undy, a good, fun few hours and really good to see the old tackle tart back on the water again!
