Well, once again the weather and winds haven't been overly generous in sorting out available passes, last night, the 19/7 looked touch and go but, faint heart and all that!
Four of us were brave/stupid enough, Tony, John and Rich, it was quite lumpy to begin with but after a few hours it became much more comfortable
Going was slow compared to previous trips, there were quite a few mackerel around, mainly though all falling to John - but he was nice enough to share a few around!
Using the fresh mackerel i had my first ray of the evening
From the banter around it was apparent that the others were getting in on the action too, Rich had a hefty undulate and also Tony with a good thornback
I hit a thorny....
And then felt brave enough to drop a head and guts down for a conger
But preferably a bigger one than what came in previously!!!
Well, there was indeed a fair bit of interest in the head and guts which eventually turned into....
A blimmin good undulate
Now here comes the spiteful bit.
I wanted to weigh the undy but it was fairly reluctant to open it's mouth, i tried easing the hook in when... Open, extend, chomp, crush, shred.....
The bloody thing ruined my finger!!
I may have sworn a wee bit.
Ouch.
Unfortunately although the fish had finally come onto feed it was late and i was grumbling about a poorly pinky that was smarting somewhat.
A slow, lumpy starter but we eventually shared a good few rays, eels, pout, doggies and green gold amongst us, good night in anyone's books
