Do we really post expecting to get replies ? – if so, my last review of an Avet reel really bombed.
Will this stop me from posting again ? – hell no – why should it – I don’t do it for a round of applause.
The last two years of my life, have seen me working in London (not exactly condusive to sea fishing), and in the last months of last year, retiring to Anglesey. Since then, we’ve been hit by five storms in close succession, endless rain, 60 mph winds – despite being a mere three miles from the sea, I’ve more chance of catching on the road outside at the moment. It’s not a case of “float suits” up here, more like “survival suits”.
Even in the South (I used to live in Hampshire), this time of the year has never exactly been “prolific” – this is when we rely on “TOF’s” (of any generation) to keep us amused.
Come the spring and early summer, I will taunt you with abundant catches of Wrasse, Dogs, Mackeral and the odd Bass – Bull Huss, Rays, Pollack Tope and Tuna – all from the shore.
Until then, you, like me, are just going to have to be patient.
When a fisherman loses patience, either with the fishing or with the forum – then we are really screwed …….

I am officially suffering from lack of good weather. Too wet and windy up til the new year - now too wet , windy and cold. The last vulcan bomber flew just a while back and it took me back to a holiday on the Isle of Man in the 70's . Fishing out from Port St Mary or Peel the skipper with just me and my brother on board fished a area the skipper called "targets". Using the left overs from scallops (Queenies on Man) we had brilliant fishing - bring to the boat almost every fish in UK waters drifting from a large floating bulleye to another about 1/2 a mile away. All three rods out of the water at the same time and drifting out of the catch zone due to that.
Part way through the afternoon a Vulcan bomber came in very low a couple of times to see where we were. The third pass it dropped bombs on the target we were drifting away from - Fourth pass again on the other target as we motored back to the original one.
Finally he came over even lower , waggled his wings , gave us a wave and vanished into the distance. He was so close we could see his big grin. Didn't affect the fishing at all and gave us an experience neither of us will ever forget.

PS. When TOF put a couple of posts on other fishing sites he was slaughtered ( once barred) for daring to put in an alternative view to what people wanted to read. Overfishing? No such thing , more fish now than there have ever been , trouble maker here !! etc I read their replies with TOF , one or two dared back him the rest towed the party line. I think it was called World Sea Forum or some such, I think I recall him talking about that. WSF was full of nutters at that time but most have been booted off now. Still, I don't go there myself. Poor fishing is one reason why many forums are quiet, and the proliferation of forums too of course. Haven't been out myself for ages - too much work, weather wrong, tides wrong, etc etc. One of these days.

Do we really post expecting to get replies ? No, but if know one replies the forum dies it is simple as that a good forum must have an input it must have movement. I have moved to WSF as every time I go there, there is NEW posts to read this is what I like not to come to this site and see the same old post over and over again.
