Is this forum alive anymore or have i walked into a ghost town? Hi Chris. I'm a new member myself. I own a Predator 160 16 footer had it for about 4 years. I trailer it up to Scotland for a weeks fishing every year. Don't know what size of boat you're thinking of getting but before you do I would take the RYA powerboat level 2 course and also the marine vhf radio course. My boat has a 50hp motor which is not quite big enough for more than 2 people , I do fish with 4 people although I just pootle along using only about 12 litres of fuel for a full days fishing. Lots of you tube videos on boat handling , maintenance etc. 5K should get you something descent for a 1st time boat , try and get one fully equipped with radio ,depth sounder and chart plotter included. Cheers Chris G
