For those of you who don't know my area, this is Portsmouth's famous (or infamous) Spinnaker Tower. This is the view from the top deck looking west across the harbour to Gosport, and the Solent and the Isle of Wight beyond. Just thought I'd share that with you .

Yeah, we could build the 'Trans Alverstoke Canal' between the creek and the bay - then I'd live on an island too lol !

Been up there twice !! The glass floor is a laugh watch people sh*t themselves as they walk over it . Went up there in a force 9, the noise was horrendous - go a video somewhere and some piccies. Not as scary as Northampton Lift Tower though 127 metres of cast concrete with NO FOUNDATIONS Designed for lift testing (I created some of the test systems they used) and designed to SWAY in any direction up to 11 degrees from the vertical - and trust me when it sway it scares the live daylights out of you

They let people go up when it's like that ? Lol, I know what you mean about the glass floor. My 7 year old showed 'em though - she lay spread eagled, face down on it and just said 'cool !'. I did the glass floor thing in the CN Tower in Toronto - was the highest free standing structure in the world at the time. That made me feel a bit queezy !

First time I went the Spinaker , got chatting to one fo the engineers. He toldme that the "spike" above all the glass areas is basically one massive water tank, designed so that in the event of a fire, it not only feeds sprinklers but also has a Waterfall Capabilty to literally flood each room. They has to do this , because there is no appliance availabel to reach the upper levels in the UK within reasonable response times. I would hate to be in there when the waterfall mode came on
