hello mate
sound like you have a wire broken or a dirty contact or something not conected to the anode circut
have you got a r.d coupling if so you should have a small piece of earth wire across the outside of the r.d coupling from a bolt on the shaft side of the coupling - to a bolt on the gearbox side of the coupling .
also cheack and clean all the points where you have wire the earth leads ( engine -sea cocks -metal tank-steering-rudder and if you have rubber mounts on your engine feet you should have a wire on to your metal engine beds ) all connected to your anode
had the same trouble on the last colvic seaworker ,prop started to pit and corrode so with the the mitchell when i had the boat home for a refit i wired everything i could because as you know anything under water cost lots of money hope this helps

i have never heard of that effecting it like that ,i am quite surprice your prop has gone so fast even if the lenghts of chain's or you have got a bad anode circut ,there is no way your prop should pitted so fast .
if i was you i would get on to the people who made the prop and tell them whats happen and tell them you want the prop tested incase there is something wrong with the metal they used.
also ask some of the other boat owner's around you if there prop's have gone the same you may be able to do somethink about it ,all of you together and get a new prop's

andy do you have a hydraulic gear box? ? if so you need to fit electro eliminators on you shaft it dont happen on all off them but it seems to bee quite common, also some older mechanical gear boxs can lose continuty though the box in certain places. to check this put a meter across the anode to prop and rotate the prop both ways to see if you lose conection on the meter if so again fit electro eliminators
