advice on electronics ect i will need

Depends what your doing & where your going Kerry but you could get going with a VHF (marine band radio) & a compass. Then work out what else you need as you go along. Study some charts before you head out there & suss out what the tides doing on the day & how it effects your route there & back (if it's tidal at all?).
P.s slap me hard if Im being my normal patronising self!! gotta put the correct answer on here, you never know who might be reading!

You can pick up a handheld unit for well under £100 & save yourself some wireing, if so just make sure it will transmit at 5watts.
A mounted model you can pick up for £130-ish but remember antenna costs & your time spent wireing

As far as lights go you will need a port light (red) on your left and starboard light (green) on your right. Also a `running light`(white) in the middle, above your cabin. You should get these as a whole set.

No license needed to catch and keep fish unless you plan to go commercial. There are a few fish you cant keep like sea trout, but i think thats about it! Good luck with the boat and fishing.

Hi mate, our boat is about the same size as yours and absolutely the best bit of kit we have is a combined fish finder and GPS. Lowrance M68c to be precise we got ours shopsoiled at a knockdown price but they are very reasonable anyway especially if you hunt around. Mainly used for navigating to interesting spots on the charts and storing hot spots in memory when we find them for later visits. Hope we never need to use the GPS for telling rescue services where we are but it's there if we ever need it and powered by a sealed 12v jelly battery we got from ebay for £12

Beware combined plotter/fishfinders!!! When the screen is split to show both, then they are very small.
Always much better to have seperate units i think unless you can stretch to an Raymarine A65.
Having had loads of diferent makes and models of gps,sonar, i`m a firm beliver in you get what you pay for. If you get a gps then go for a plotter, you can get a b&w Navman one now for £150.
You will find it much better to use. Also a colour sonar will always be easier to look at than a mono one. Go for the highest resolution screen you can afford and things will look much clearer.
I know you only have a small booat but try and get the best you can as you will be using them all the time and it will be well worth it.

i have 2 colour sounders,2 poltters and 2 vhf radios all from the states and they all work perfectly
