It feels great ay!! I've had my Orkney 5 weeks now, before it was a Shetland 535. A big step up and has taking some getting use to. I just cant wait to go fishing. Even if the weather's sh!t i still find a reason to go down to it. Good luck with the trip back and start saving those pound note's for the fuel!!!!! My tesco points have gone through thte roof Arron

great stuff, just check those bearings & then check 'em again before the tow back. I'd even consider getting the details & buying a couple of spare sets & change them as a precaution before you start off. She looks great, good luck with her!

Well got the boat back (just), wheel bearing had let go somewhere on the last leg of the journey and i think the wheel was just hanging on with sheer good luck. Managed to strip it down yesterday, what a mess, the think was bonded to the axle it must have got so hot.
Today managed to source a new bearing set (thanks john reynolds) and after alot of explicits and 2 hours of grinding and filing finally got the wheel back on.
Launched at the folly and motored her around at a conservative 23knots (had a blast upto 30) to her new home in bembridege harbour.
Just a few little bits to sort now and we will be fishing ;D

Glad you got her back in one piece & look forward to the pics. There's a place round the corner from me 'BRT bearings', they make bearings for just about anything. After a near disaster we had when towing our last boat I had a chat with the bloke at the shop & he said that there is'nt a grease on the market that will protect the bearings from the heat of towing for anytime at a speed that also protects against water penetration. Buying a bearing grease from a chandlers they will usually make a claim that it will perform well at both heat & water resistance but they simply wont, full stop. If im towing any distance I would now change the bearings without question unless I was absolutely confident. Another obvious but point worth making for anyone reading is that after a tow of any distance, rest the trailer for as long as possible to let the bearings cool before submerging them when launching, its the expansion & contraction from the hot to cold that kills them in no time!
Good luck with her, any improvements planned? Pete

Lots of bits planned, will be out spending the day tirying her up instead of fishing to day. Finish of fitting some new electronics and sorting out the bloody auxilary and hopefully come the weekend (weather permitting) we will be out.
