Can anyone recommend any decent manufacturers for boat rod holders, the type that hold your rods whilst fishing......want to get the type that fix to the gunnels and are adjustable for rod angle....
Just read some stuff on WSF regarding plastic holders breaking alot...anyone had any experience of this?
Cheers ;D Dave

If your gonna buy plastic holders then berkley are the ones to get, the other makes ive had have been crap.
If your got railings to fasten them to the stainless ones from nautequip are good and at only 16.99 are cheap to.

I think our ones are 'Berkley' the type that keeps the most of the rod out of the boat & has only the butt inside. Ours are a good few yrs old but no sign of them going brittle or snapping at all. Whatever the way, they come with 2 fittings 1. that you can clamp round a hand rail to which the rest drops into. 2. one that screws / bolts to a flat surface. Brilliant bit of kit, cost around a tenner each. Search for 'Berkley' I think 'Pure Fishing' owns/ distributes their kit.

We use the plastic ones from Berkley and Fladen and both perfect, I'm not the best at finesse and care neither! Can supply if you wish ;-)

Those plastic ones will break if you lock your drag down, use 30lb line and the hook snags on the bottom as the boat swings as the tide turns. I know....However, if you are not that stupid they will last for years (5 out my 6 have, so I am only one sixth stupid).

we have been using the plastic ones for a few years and had no trouble with them. but i do use a light laynard with a clip on sometimes just for safty as i dont fancy seeing £300 worth go over the side. it happened a few years ago in the solent we had 4 rods proped in the back of the boat when a bl@@dy great yacht cut tight on our stern i grabed one rod but the other shot over the back, we were at anchor with the bouy up but as useal we were being used as targets.
