We've just wired in all the electronics. I have'nt had a play around yet but wondered if there was a test procedure to make sure the DSC facility was working ok?

I reckon if you gave Solent Coastguard a ring they might be able to advise you, alternatively try calling another vessel with DSC and see if you get a response, or set it up to receive alerts.

Don't forget that if you set off the DSC in Mayday mode that ALL other sets in range are set off as well! Some bigger ships/boats are able to pin point your position and it would be a nightmare to cancel the call. You will have to leave it to trust that it will work. As others have said, set up your 'Buddy' list and call them at least that will check most of the system. Dave

If the set is not receiving a signal from your GPS then it should 'tell' you. Try switching the GPS off and leaving the radio on. If the alarm does not trigger on the radio then it is not set up properly. It may take a few minutes so dont panic straight away.
