Well, went down to visit the boat to make sure all was ok only to find what i thought was some thieving scum had nicked our bloody auxillary 4hp Merc. The bracket was snapped and bent up. Went round to the harbour office and started ranting on only to be told that a boat had broken its mooring during the night and smashed into the back off our boat, beating the aux off. It is now sat 10ft beneath my boat with the crabs. Went to see the owners of the moorings and they straight away claim all responsability for it and and agreed to fork out for a new engine and bracket christ knows how long it will take to get but atleast i will get 1 Another boat broke it mooring on the other side of the harbour only to blow 200 yards and catch its cabin on a walk way ripping it clean off. It was about 20k of jeanneau merry fsher aswell

Sorry to hear that Rich... I'm sure that some of those boats on the moorings don't get looked at too often... Could have been much worse I suppose... and good that you will be as you were shortly.
If you need to recover the OB, but dont have any luck, give me a shout, my FIL is a commercial there and has a drysuit and goes in to remove rope from his prop now and again...

Sorry to hear of the problems, I know it is after the event but is it worth having a tether, s/s cord, around the aux to prevent it being totally lost over the side? Might even be able to add a lock to deter any theives. I am sure if they really wanted it they would get it but anything to make them take extra time may help.
Good to hear they are getting you a replacement with minimum hassel.
