Hi just a little tip that you may already know, If your electronics ie:VHf, Mobile, plotters etc get damp do not try and turn them on remove the battery then place them in a bag of dried rice or pasta and put them either on a radiator or as close as possible for a few days and the rice or pasta will absorb the moisture ............
dropped my phone over the side got it back after a few days it worked fine gets rid of mist on screens to, not saying its 100% but Worth ago before you bin it...

I slipped and fell into the sea from a pontoon, with mobile phone and remote locking keys for the car, phone is completley knackered, but fortunately car keys are okay, som I'm now using an antiquated mobile, which is pretty crap.
Good thing was though nobody saw me actually fall in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another quick tip. If its sea water and not rain water your kit gets drowned in, once you have removed the batteries flush it through with lots of freshwater otherwise if it does dry and start working again the salt will carry on reacting with the electronics.
Good tip with the rice or pasta I will try that one next time.

I dropped my mobile phone in. Got it out fairly sharpish and 'cooked' it on the car heater. It did not work so I took it back to the shop as it was nearly new.
I played hell and tried to bluff it. Came unstuck when the shop assistant removed the battery cover and battery and showed me the red dot underneath. He promptly declared that the warranty was invalid as the phone had been in water.
I asked him how he knew and he said the red dot is litmus paper and should be black! In future i am going to carry a black fibre tip pen!
