are the hydrofoils that attach onto the lower leg on an outboard actually any good? apparently they help stabalize the boat and help it plane at lower speeds and will reduce fuel consumption.

Had them on my 100hp suzuki and the boat would get on the plane allmost instantly , dont think they made much difference to the fuel consumption though.

i think you will find that it depends on your set up. i have read lots of write ups on these and some people swear by em and others recon they were a waste of time. as they are cheap i recon they would be worth a try.

they are good on planing boats kick the stern up quickly and make the boat more stable. Andy

Weve had outboards with 'foils fitted and without and i have to say i havent noticed a massive difference. I cant help but think that if they were that good why dont they get fitted as standard by the manufacturer. Im not convinced totally of there benefit but understand the theory of em. Dan
