i would go for oak bearers glassed to the hull, then 3/4" ply covered in resin screwed to the bearers then fibreglassed in place. when you have finished glassing apply some gell coat to the deck. jobs a goodun

If you are looking for someone to do the resin and fiberglass work, I can recommend someone, he did some work for me - good job, let me know if you want his number.

I don't know much about boats but have you blokes ever looked at that hard foam filled board that some of the plastics firms do? It was originally produced to replace barge boards, etc on houses but it seems pretty tough to me and is available in a variety of colours these days.

i have looked in to some plastics and ply wood but never looked in to foam at all. hopefully i will be able to give squidlips way a go possiblely with the help of Crusader's contact just trying to find out a quote for the work and find out how much the material will set me back.

Another thought but bloody expensive . Try googling pollypenco or nylatron. we use loads at work , its the same stuff they make kitchen chopping boards from.
