Hi guys sorry to ressurect this post, I am new to the site and have come across this thread via the marvel of the Search Engine. I have purchased the rod in question off Ebay (not here just yet) but I am just wandering if it is ok for rough ground fishing as it is the first serious money I have spent on a rod and I also bought a Penn 525 Mag Extra aswell to accompany it. I am developing an OTG technique and my longest measured cast so far with the Penn and a F/s rod is 156yds. I just hope I havent made a mistake as I am hoping to use it on Friday at Pwllheli

It's great rough ground rod mate, tough as old boots. You may want beef up your reel though, I'm not sure how much thick line you'll get on a 525.

Well I used it friday and its a lovely fishing rod howvere my OTG cast is back to the drawing board as my switch from a Shakespeare Odessa 12ft F/s rod to this has dropped my OTG from 156yds to 70yd LOL but I think that was me expecting to be able to pick it up and hit it out the same. Im sure I will learn

I would even say that they like a big old bait and weight even better, even though they do like the more delicate approach too!
