Ive had it just over 2 months now and still cant fault it for £99.99. it sits well in the tide and can handle up to a 6oz lead with a medium sized bait but i find a 5oz easier to cast. fish wise Ive had double shots of dogfish bream e.t.c. as well as smuts to nearly 10lb. my only gripe is the reel seat, sometimes its really hard to undo(then again it could be me being a weakling lol) all in all i think its brilliant. I've had a greys PZ Match for years now and cant fault it, great alround rod. My brother bought a grx a couple of months ago, a fish pulled it off the rest and onto the beach and two of the ring inserts shattered............something to watch out for.

Carl I have 3 Grey's pt300z brilliant rods for the rough stuff but these were built by Hardy's in england where as the newer stuff is not and unfortunately the build quality has been compromised still very good rods but as henry said they do have one or two things to watch out for i.e cheaper fittings...... and in the worst cases the odd greys are snapping but they are backed up by a good aftersales and warranty so no real problem

Good bit of sales/marketing from Greys with the lifetime same owner warranty, altho 30.00 a section if needed for admin. Have to agree tho MK1 range was far superior, hardly any problems with them, unlike some other companies..

I had a chuck of vax's GRX the other night using OTG style and boy did it go - roughly 160 yds on first chuck with a 4oz lead. Made me wonder what I could do with it if I really got the hang of it. I was surprised at the weight of the rod though. I would have thought it could have been a bit lighter so at my age I will stick with my Salt Beach - not quite so much power but much easier to handle.

Let us know how you get on with the new gear Solehunter. In the market for some beach gear myself suitable for fixed-spool. Good luck.
Cheers,
Alex.

The rods are awesome. I can thump WAY past my normal effort range with ease. They can easily take a 6oz weight and half a mackerel with no probs! As for the grauvels, you couldnt wish for a better fixed egg beater! ;D
