i bought 1 of these "ABU SUVERAN PRO 7' 9" 20-30lbs" back at the begining of june and now as the weather has improved iv now finaly got some good bends in it with conger to 30lb smuts to10lb and pollock to 12lb and it took all of it with ease. it has a lovley action, soft tip for bites and strong at the base for them bigger animals, it has also takes leads of up to 1 1/2lb the big test will be when we go for some the bigger conger around the back of the island , but so far so good i got mine from alderney tackle while is was over there and it cost £90 give or take a penny so if you are looking for a new boat rod , take a look at one of these and see what you think just wish abu still made good reels

Agreed whole heartadly & I wish the reels were equal too!
Myself & a few others that use the forum bought a suveran each when they were first launched & there's no sign of any probs whatsoever a good three yrs on!

Unlucky mate, the more I look into it the more convinced I am with the whole fly over & fish a local boat. I couldnt think of anything worse than sitting through a nasty trip back especially after the fishing been poor. £120 or under I'm quite happy handing over for a flight!

Just picked up on this thread.
The rod is superb as is the 12/20, and they're still £88 if you buy one here. The reels look improved for this year. I have chosen a C3 and I have to say at this stage seems pretty good. However it is the corrosion we need to look for so after it has spent a winter locked in my cabin that should be a good test!!
Flying back and forth, decent coolbox and yes you should be able to take fish home, Aurigny are surprisingly forgiving to us anglers!
