as far as i'm aware(by reading other anglers post's)the Dvice acts in a similar way to a lead lift, the good thing about the Dvice is i think you can add fixed wires to it(not 100% sure tho ) as soon as coddo and myself have had a go we will report....wart's 'n' all ;D

Yeah mate I've got a few but not used 'em yet, but they look like they will plane on the retrieve.

have ordered 6 direct from Dvice today, the added good news is that the screw head fixture is now made from lighter grade steel and the guage of wire in the fluted tube has been reduced to save a bit more weight. I guess this version is the mk 2 ......but im sure Rob can tell us wots wot.!!!!!! Gazza

I can add my own review now, having used them two trips in a row ;D
Despite being 165g, it actually felt a bit heavier than my 175g leads I usually use. It initially feels a bit cumbersome as you swing it, but when you cast it feels nearly like a plain lead - not quite but the nearest I've ever got, including clipped down rigs.
It does plane on the retrieve which could be an advantage over rough ground, but only a fool would be using them in those circumstances (£££).

Just thought I would chip in my ten pennies worth....... Is the DVice better than the baitsafe? I think that Ted Thwaite, who invented the baitsafe, was a total genious, and his creation is a fine display of engineering. But it is over engineered for the task. You are also limited to small baits. I am not knocking the baitsafe for this, as it was originally designed purely for small delicate baits. The DVIce will deliver both small and large baits however. It will also outcast the baitsafe ( dont think Lee Adams would be able to cast a baitsafe with a whole squid 220 meters....), outgrip the baitsafe, does plane up on the retrieve, and is very unlikely (on tests, one in two hundred casts) to non-eject as long as you follow a few basic guidelines. Ted Thwaite identified the need for a bait protecting item, and if I remember correctly, it came out about 1980. Its still in the shops now. 28 years of a product having a market presence is amazing with any consumable item. Our product is the first in all that time to address these problems with a new angle, and simpler mechanics. I like to think of Ted (now, sadly deceased) looking down content that his thoughts have contributed to the DVice. I bet he would be using one if he were still casting a line!

have never cast a baitsafe, eddy was testing the Dvice against it on sunday so he will be able to back up your thoughts rob. i did find the Dvice very easy to use, easy to cast... deinately the furthest i have ever cast a hole squid! shame the crabs got at it though! i was able to fish with lighly hooked bunches of small ragworm, eddy caught his first ever dab with this method!
it will be a godsend when using big sandeel/squid baits for long distance ray fishing. i think it will come into it's own when the cod are about!!
i wouldnt say it improved my catch rate on sunday but then again dogfish arnt the fussiest or hardest of fish to catch. so not really a fair test of catch-rate improvement.
well done Rob for developing a quality product.!

i can only mirror what rob said about the baitsafe,it is however well made if a little more tricky to load than the DVice, well quite a bit trickier in fact, and i can't see it being blasted with a full pendulum cast, the DVice however i can see handling it without too much trouble(i'm no tourny caster type so can't be 100% certain) as coddo has said, roll on the cod season,i reckon this will really make the DVice shine on venues such as chesil/bc ;D ;D ;D quality product and NOT just another gimmick like so many others(bait launcher springs to mind :
