Hello Bill,
I know there are knots pecifically for this but I (& everyone I fish with) use a standard mono to mono shockleader knot.
Tuck a loop in the shockleader & leave it open. Pass the braid through & pull approximately 10" through the open shockleader loop. Make a loop in the braid & hold it against the shockleader with the thumb & fore-finger of your left hand. With your right hand pass the braid through the loop & around the shockleader lashing them both together. Add plenty of gob to the braid knot & pull tight without pulling the mono knot tight. leave the braid knot where it is. Plenty of gob to the mono knot & pull tight. Pull on the braid mainline & help slide the knot upto the mono knot. Plenty of gob to both knots then pull both finally tight & trim ends
You can experiment with how many turns to give the braid knot depending on the size of final knot you can get away with.
Bloody hell ! its hard to describe knot tying!!! & its surprising how much gobs involved!!

I go with a half hitch in the mono and a uni knot with the braid with a extra turn each way in it n if you want to be a tart a small dab of super glue over it........... this is the only knot that has never gone on me due to slip it is also an idea to leave the braid tag slightly longer than you normally would if it was a mono knot
