I prefer a 2 hook pennel mate largish hooks 3/0-5/0. There are some good "squid" anglers on this forum and i'm sure they will contribute:)

Yeh, the IOW monster squid society will have it off to a fine art but as darenw says two hook pennell is my choice to. Bottom hook through the body & out in the head & the top hook showing middle body leaving the shank inside to whip the top of the body to.

ive never used a pennel rig is it hard getting the second hook in the bait No problem TB - bait up the squid just as Pete described. You can make a pennel with the top sliding free on the line then once the bottom hook is passed through the squid into position, line the top one up, take a few turns of line around the shank to secure it and pass through the top of squid. I usually use a fixed pennel (just my preference) - tie the hook on with a blood knot leaving a long tag end. Then tie the bottom hook on, leaving say - 4 or 5 inches between the points of the two hooks. Bind up with elastic making sure the points are securley standing well clear.
