I tell ya what rich.........that thread had to be one of the most in depth and discussed points of view ive seen on here..... WOW......so much opinion on em mate...!!!! Not really sure wot the overall conclusion was, that said the boating boys with tides to fight seemed to benefit the most with fish moving off and self hooking, rather than a beach mark where the bait is anchored from an average 30deg angle so its harder to sit on ya hands and not strike when a rod is nodding rather than a fish running down tide on a boat. Dont strike.......what a concept.....seems quite hard ..!!! i will try some though.........what the hell. Gaz

Yep, I plan to try some out this year with my customary big fish baits for bass. I dropped a number of potentially good bass (beach) last year, so worth a go I think .....

Bassing hhhmmmmmmmm now theres a word to get your juices flowing...!!!! I spoke to a couple of old guys in Dorset who regularly fish for them off Chesil....albeit on evening tides. They said in all there years, there fav bait was to freeline a large mack head with the guts attached and just leave the reel in free spool.....game over. Im itchin to give it a go,i spose you could lip hook it with a circle hook..?? Just not sure if the hook would set though. will have to try. Gaz
