As Lee (Cuckoo)very kindly asked me and Terry my long suffering fishin buddy to join him one night down at Town Quay,we have invested in a drop net due to the nature of the venue and for other peir venues in the future.(Bearing in mind we have never used one) Ok......quick question If and i do mean if, we do get a fish, what is the best way to light up the surface in darkness to net the 10lb Bass........ (sorry dreamin there for a second) Ok so it might be easy just to stick a "very" bright torch over the side.....job done.....but.....we didnt want to scare everything else. I read somewhere about affixing a torch to the drop rope 2/3feet above it,so that the beam only displays the net area. would that make sense.....!!!! or is there a standard way to deal with this, that i aint aware of yet.!!!! Any thoughts..?? Gaz

If you are netting bass the last thing I would do is put direct light any where near it(unless its dim) cause if its big they freak often pulling hooks!! keep light to a minimuim use a head light or torch and shine just enough light to make the fish out and go for it.....

Reckon you need a set of those night sights (vision enhancing goggles) which the marines, etc., use these days. They used to be very pricey but like everything else the chinese are now making them for a fiver. Well not quite a fiver but I think I saw some in Lidls recently for about 30 quid. Have never tried it meself however because there is no where on Hayling where we would need them.
