Ok hurst it is Fri eve/night Im going on me lonesome to fish the venue for the first time billy no mates.....sniffle sniffle...lol and have been told there is a slim chance that the sandy area can produce Rays and early Bream. having never caught either, I was gonna fish a 3 hook flapper at 60yds bottom snood 25lb with size 2/0 mack flap for rays and 2nd long hook snood 15lb with size 1 hook squid strip for Bream....... top hook .....short snood same bait as above for pollack...etc was just hoping this approach might cover differnt needs..?? and am also gonna fish a whole squid close in just in case. b4 the tide rips me rods off the rests...lol any thoughts ..?? as I wanna set up right come friday night.!! cheers fellers Gaz

use 3/0 minimium for rays penneled always use the same size hook for your top hook cause 60% have the top one! try sandeel with a small whole squid bound up with it or a large strip or sandeel and mac strip bound up can be deadly, personally I only use a pennel clip/pulley I am not one for multi hook traces unless scratching.......... Alot of fish are fully tuned in to crab and NOTHING else at the moment, fish one rod for rays and the other big that way your not disturbing your area every 10mins with mini species which ups your chances of a big monster..........

Same here - If it's rays your targeting, I wouldn't clutter up a trace with multiple snoods - simple clipped down pennel on a longish snood with a good sized bait giving out plenty of scent.

Gaz Good advise from the boys skate. Always keep 1 rod for buggering about with and fish mean with the other with a pennel 3/0 minimum like slippy said if you are going for a ray. This way you are still have a good chance of hooking any other big fish that takes fancy. Good luck with your trip.

well good luck Gaz would use a macky head tight in or small stapped up pout as bait,on your bream rod use 3 hook paternoster style with party squid and worm baits.

A seriouse ray angler will tell you to use sandeels or sandeel wrapped in squid like a sausage. A few lug with this would be a bonus. Had all `3`(coughs) of mine this way!

Its the bloody presentation that is my weakness at the moment. I have frozen sandeel and frozen calamari,I was gonna leave the squid body open and place the sandy inside and wrap em together,or ....maybe just wrap em back to back with laccy anyway, its a good learnin experience for me usin differnt large baits with large hooks Ive just made up x4 60lb main line with 30lb snood with 2 kamasan B940 size 3 pennel pulley rigs these wil now be my Ray rigs. and yes might try whole mack heads with guts hangin close in on a free runnin ledger with a 4/0 through the lips this is a good crack settin up for new species just hope they play ball....lol thanks for all your suggestions lads Gaz

Sounds good mate. Make sure your macky is fully defrosted and cut through the macky just behind the head so you just feel it cut through the back bone, then pull the head....you should get the guts with it!

You`ll be alright there mate. Great place to fish. Have fun and make sure we hear the report first! If you do take your bass rod, dont be shy of chucking it 20ft. Good luck mate.
