Suitable beach and boat reel "In One"

Ok......b4 all you boat officianadoes slag me
for wanting to use a reel for both...........Tuff
I do and thats it.........

So with that in mind(and not a TLD)
would this reel be ok to use for general
fishing from a boat,+
shore fishing for say,close casting for
smoothies/Bass/and rock fishing for Pollack and Wrasse
200 yds of 25lb line.....on the size 20 (small mits)

and dont gimme the tite git routine.....we gotta budget somewhere dont we.!!!
sides I wanna spend more cash on another beachcaster.

I'd say you'd be fairly close to getting 200yards of 25lb line on the 20, might be pushing it.
For the extra £5 the 30 is wider, so it doesn't matter if you have small mitts (like me), it'll still fit. The 20 might be able to cast further (lighter spool), but it doesn't sounds like hitting the horizon is your priority anyway...

ya right steve,I aint seen the 30 in the flesh
so didnt know if it would be to big for me small mitts
wos just trying to keep keep the set up light and balanced
but as ya say.......I only wanna lob it 50/60 yds at most
in all shore areas mate.....and just wanted to use it as general purpose boat reel with 25lb mono.
in other words just wanted to pull it out the draw and use
it for differnt purposes without changing lines etc.

I find the Abu 7000 is a good all-rounder for both beach and boat. Try picking one up on Ebay.

I would go for one of the orignal 7000s made in Sweden, I have used one for 42 years and had no problems from the boat or from the shore. ;D

Not sure what I would pick but I would definitely want to have well over 300yds of 20lb line capacity: Comes the day you hook something sizeable which decides to run (50 lb Tope?) then you may well need a lot of line. Chances of tope in the solent area are quite high: At least two were hooked from Hayling beaches last year and they both completely stripped 200 yds of line from the fixed spools which were in use.

the problem is if you want to bottom fish say for cod with the tide you can be useing 2lb lead same with rays tope conger.
metal spool is a must and atleast 30lb braid we all use 40lb or 50lb.The only way you can have both is if you go wrecking or inshore with no tide Gaz me old mucker!!!!!!!!!!!!
