Hi guys, Anyone know how to use these? I was buying stuff from Veals and thought that they looked streamlined, neat and most of all very quick an easy to use. The XD is basically a slightly over sized crimp with a small flange on one end, I assummed that you put the crimp on your rig body, flange facing the lead, slipped the swivel onto the crimp and squashed the end thus trapping the snug fitting swivel between the flange and the now mis-shaped end of the crimp. However if I had pounded the crimp with a lump hammer it would not be mis-shappen enough to stop the swivel sliding off the crimp. There must be a bead involved somewhere surely

Those regular smarties are bootlace ferrules with an insulated sheath used for wire termination. See link... cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cord-End-Terminal-Bootlace-Ferrule-French-1-0mm-x-100_W0QQitemZ250138864677QQihZ015QQcategoryZ7Be careful with the sizes though, the french versions are different from the UK ones.... Add a size 10/12 swivel of your choice and a 2mm piece of PVC tube to trap it and you have a 'smartie' for a fraction of the price from the tackle shop. ;D Looks like the XD are just non-insulated versions, I think you will get these from Maplins or RS Components too. PVC tubing and swivels, get those from UK Hooks.....
