when i put my two piece grx together the two pieces don't go completely together there's about an inch left before the two spigots would meet. i was wondering if any one else has had the same problem and if there is any thing i can do to sort this out (have heard leaving a gap, it weakens the rod while casting) I've read you can sand down the male end so it fits better but am not sure i know what I'm doing could a tackle shop sort this out? any advice would be very much appreciated cheers lewis

I could be wrong, but......I think the gap is there to allow for the general wearing of the spigot (over time) and is quite normal. As long as the top and bottom sections fit snuggly there shouldn't be any problems

beaky you are not wrong thats exactly what the gap is for .eventally the gap will reduce and then remedial action will be needed such as graphite spray or a smear of candle wax .What ever you do do not try to make the spigots join as it will break the rod .you wouldnt of been the first to do this. I PERSONALLY PREFER ,PUT OVERS OR PUSH INS .......

Oddly enough my mate's Ron Thompson Carbostick (cracking rod) is configured the same way and he has not had any problems even though he gives it a hell of a belt sometimes. He has had it almost 2 years now and it has got no-where near spigot join yet.

Lewis, I can confirm this is normal, same as my GRX. It has a taperd spigot as indicated above and is designed to give a good fit for many years.

Yes for gods sake leave it! This is normal for any male butt of a rod. I had an old shakey hurricane that had the gap, that over 6 or 7 years DID finally meet flush with the female tip end. Like an idiot i masked the spigot with tape to get me by before i could get some more rods.....it was a tight fit and ended in it snapping as the tip section wasnt on the spigot enough. Best thing that could have happened really as i bit the bullet and sought me my 2 grays
