Unless you want one of those 16 or 17 ft beasties, I recommend the Shakespeare Salt Beach Range. Mike Thrussell was involved in the design, they have Fuji rings, really light and easy to use. I just have a 12 ft because I can chuck it well over 120 yds and that's good enough for me, but you might like the 13 ft MX version which is about £80 I think. My mate uses a Ron Thompson Carbostick and that seems pretty unbreakable with a good action too - about the same price I believe but watch where you buy, I have seen some tackle shops charging rip-off prices. I would have mentioned the Greys GRX but have heard too many stories lately of them busting.

Now you have me worried. I have done an extensive google search on "greys grx-s snapping" and have found no cases in all the uk forums of anyones grx-s snapping (only lewis`s). With interest i have read a few posts of people casting 8oz leads with large baits on them with no bother. Lewis....you MUST have had a damaged rod either done in the manufacturing stages or in transit. This case reminds me of the ABU conolon....now THESE used to snap. I know of 3 that my mates snapped, 2 of which happened to the same guy...and one of them in front of my eyes pulling out a snag.

Sorry Soley, But have heard of another couple of cases round the London area. No probs because the guys got fresh rods under the warranty, but it did happen.

Just to muddle things up, I've got a Shimano Nexave 130M. Been using it to throw 6oz plus whole fish off the back of the Island, where it's very snaggy. Still going strong.

Not seen one, sounds good but do they have Fuji Rings like the Shakespeare?
