For what it's worth mate, you don't need to spend that much to get a decent 13 ft carbo rod. Have a look at the latest Shakespeare Salt Beach jobs for around £70. Got mine earlier this year and well pleased with it - decent thickness of carbon fibre, great action, bite detection is fine and sits well in the wind. Also very light and easy to use - I can chuck mine around 140 yds on a good day using OTG style. I understand Mike Thrussell was involved in the design, Fuji rings too. Do you want multiplier or FS Reel?

Sorry, no idea really, always use an Okuma Pro Beach FS. I can cast that well over 100 yds so can't be bothered to learn about multipliers at my age. If I were to get another reel, I would try a Diawa - they recently offered a budget FS called the 5500g I think. Diawa's always seem to cast well from what I have seen. I do have a decent mutliplier but only use it on the boat. Oh BTW stay away from Penns apparently they have gone down hill a bit recently, it will be interesting to see what Shakespeare do with the brand now they have taken them over.
