Those OKUMAs were very impressive when Allan Watson showed me them, when they first came out. Now having fished with Mark through the summer/autumn, I'm even more impressed and they don't come with praise from a higher authority than him! (Except God!).

yea just been reading up on the Okuma Magnetix doesn't seem like a bad reel apart from as said for a tenner more a slosh is well with in price range. albeit last years model but still.
safe to say i thinks it between the penn 525, sl20sh/slx20sh and abu mag 6500 now. dawia 7 HT is out of the race.

ive got a okuma magnetix 20, it doesnt hold enough line too cope with rough ground although the reel itself will... it can birdsnest pretty bad if you go under the 4 on the magnetic setting but it could be my casting style. i got the clicking noise off my magnetix it does getting enoying sometimes listening too it, the rachet on it isnt the best but it is ok... for £60 i dont think you can fault them although i would get a 7ht for £10 more or a slosh. they have already made a upgraded version of the magnetix in Emerica alot more line capacity, higher gear ratio, no clicking noise, i think for $90 but im not too sure when its coming out here... You can get rid of the clicking noise if you want!!! Because they were developed from Boat reels originally they relied on a ratchet system for the anti reverse. But they now have an anti reverse bearing in the handle as well so the ratchet can be removed if you so wish ;D I haven;t taken mine out but I don't know why they left it in tbh There is a bigger one available here but it is MUCH bigger (approx 7000 size) but the standard one holds plenty of 15 lb line for long casting on our clean beaches. Personally i never play around with the magnets on reels while i'm fishing. I have them set quite high for peace of mind and just hit it harder if i want more distance ON my 525 mags i have glued the slider on to No. 8 so that i am not tempted to play ;D I accept what you say about the 7HT though
