It's just the job at certain Island marks. I have had the original Slosh 30 over nine years now and it's still fab. It's built like a brick shtthouse

i have a 20 but was told the 30 was a bit lumpy for the beach

Like the man said, there are better casting reels, but for rough stuff it's the nuts. I use a '30 off the beach and it's up to any back of the island marks.

30 is ok from the beach, if I need a bit more distance I use my 525 Mag loaded up with 20lb. Loaded up with 30lb line you're not really going to be looking for distance anyway. I can still cast a whole mackerel and 6oz lead a fair way, but in this instance the fish are usually close in
