hi all im after some help for my work mate, hes in to his beach fishing in a big way for many years but has never been able to aford a good rod , but now things have changed for him and hes narrowed it down to 2 rods which he loves the look of, and hes asked me to ask around , so which one is better ? zziplex 50x50 13' 4" or grays syntra 13' 6" he always use a multi on his beach rods and is open to any other suggestions cheers john

i use the daiwa td surfbreaker great rod and have just gone down in price to about 140

i would go for the zziplex if i was going to splash out that sort of money, i have 3 now and i can't fault them at all.

Yeah, Given that choice, definately the Zzippy.
Would you rather pay big money for a Rod that is hand built personally in ENGLAND by probably the worlds leading rod expert or mass produced in a factory in the far east?
If you are talking about the 50/50 XTR , its an excellent rod. Very powerful though. CApable of MASSIVE distances in the right hands

I read recently somewhere on this forum that Greys rods are prone to breakage. I think you would have a hard job breaking some of the best rods ever made. I have heard 1 or 2 stories of the grx rod breaking. This is greys cheapest rod and the tales should be taken with a bag of salt anyway. Just try googling "greys rods snapping" or words to that effect......You wont find anything. If they had a habit of snapping, you would have a thousand links come up! ;D
