Im confused.......... all these bloody rigs do my head in...... OK.......... was the difference tween these 2 then as I read a 2 hook "clipped down " is good for casting medium distance ........ and a 2 Hook "Clip up" is good for long distance. now to me they both seem stream lined ish when clipped so what is the "distance" where you are sposed to use one over the other..... ? 50yds/100yds /150yds what we sayin here.... or is it all "rig hype" and a single pulley clip rig would be just as good.....!!! gazza , make your own rigs , to your own casting preferance , copy and modify !!! thats what i do , try a rig and if you think it can be improved on , then modify it to your own taste ..... last week i tried the greys range , 3 hook flapper and found it to be far too long for distance casting (well my distance anyway) , as i like the lead to be half way between ground and rod tip to get a good wallop , but the length of this rig ment me doing a near otg cast , no good for my preferances , trial and error mate is the key , but i have found a 2 hook clip down rig works well for most of my work , have a look at the ground you are fishing and yer baits as it all comes into the equasion .... now im rambling lol too many beers i think ..............

As Lee says - find a rig that works for you ...... anything clipped down will cast further than a 'flapper, plus the more bait you can hide behind the lead or impact shield the better it is for distance casting .... 100m plus I use a Pompey rig (Goldsy loop) for most of my fishing - excellent all round scratching/match rig Big fish (I wish ) I generally use a clipped down pulley rig ..... Easy eh ? A 2 hook Pompey rig, easily adapted into a 3 hook rig - use an SRT spring & a stop knot on the top swivel so it can be adjusted if you have to retie hooks etc

Tend to agree with the other guys - I have two main rigs - two hook clipped down for distance and my own version of a two hook running ledger for close in. You might like to know Gaz that I use those little short plastic booms on my CD rigs as they seem to reduce tangling. Also, I do "sliding crimps" so that if I have to tie a fresh snood on, I can adjust the crimps for snood length. A "sliding crimp" has neoprene tube inserted between the crimp and the main line so to speak.
