Anyone used one of these ? The price (new) is around £ 45. Low for an Abu. As an existing Abu fan, I wouldn't mind one for the likes of bass or flattie fishing, so wouldn't be expecting sparkling casting performance, but is there a reason for the lower price - i.e. fall to bits after 5 minutes due to cheaper build ?

Hello Rich, that is cheap ! so its a normal 6500 abu with a power handle fitted I presume?
I did hear of anglers making a mess of the inners of cheapy abu's (made in taiwan ones) that they had put powerhandles on by simply over cranking under pressure. Hope its not an out of the box version of that. Whatever the way, its gotta be worth ago for £45.

hi rich i used to own 2 of these there absolute cracking reels for flattie and bass fishing they would be fine. Na they don't fall to bit after 5 minutes the ball bearings i reckon in my own opinion do need regular maintenance say after every 4-5 trips also. they do make a fair bit of noise tho when you cast with all 6 blocks in them.

Thanks for the answers chaps. I'm always on a tight budget where these things are concerned at the moment, but try to avoid the junk if possible ! I'll take you up that Steve !

Just got one for my Xmas present but I'm not allowed to use it yet! Build quality appears to be great however when I tried it on my rod it looks like it needs some sort of 'spacer' so it can be tightened up tight to the blank, is that normal?
