Some of us may use Superglue on knots etc to stop them coming undone and allowing trimming of the tail ends to be as close as possible. If you do , then here is a tip for you Once you have blobbed the superglue on the knot, put some spittle on your thumb and forefinger and rool the knot in the spittle. This causes the active ingredient in Superglue (Cyano-acrylate) to cure faster as it reacts with moisture.

You should be careful of doin that, if Cyno (Superglue) goes off at an accelerated rate it can generate enormous heat which could degenerate the line specially if it is mono.
If the cyno is fresh it should go off very quickly anyway. Cyno deteriorates with age in the bottle and if a shop has it on the shelf for a long time it is frequently past its best and takes quite a long time to go off.
I've seen superglue in the likes of B & Q which has obviously been in stock for months and gone solid.
Best place to buy superglue is a model shop, where it turns over very fast. They are also likely to have a good selection of types (viscosities and such) although the thin stuff is what you want for knots.

I dont think using super glue is a good idea. use to use it when i did a lot of fly fishing. the heat of the curing weakend the line so much that it would snap like cotton. this will not show so much on sea fishing stronger line. But it must reduce the breaking strain alot. why risk the lose of the fish of a lifetime? try thinned down clear nail polish or model aero dope. Both work and dont damage the line!!

Yer not all of the anglers here would have nail polish or admit to it if they did

Ok done use it myself. just thought the info would be handy for the ones that do. Remember if people are glueing shockleader Knots thet could be weakend to an unsafe level and I for one dont fancy a six oz lead in the back of my head. seen enough idiots not even using a shockleader.
