hello today i think i have done one off the most stupidest things i have ever done in my fishing life. and all it was was common sense here it is. OK i traded in a boat rod today to buy some rig making bits and bobs i bought amnesia 40lb when i got home chopped up most of my traces with rubbish trace body line on them 50lb. then i re tied them all with amnesia and str springs then when i was in the bath common sense hit me. i tied all my rigs with 40lb snood and trace and i use 70lb taperd leader i use a 5 oz lead and what does that come too a snap off!!! does any one think i can get away with this lol? ps why cant they make amnesia in 50lb!!! any one else done something like this.

Ooer what a dear do. Mind you we all do it from time to time, in my case it's called having a senior moment. Can't say I have ever seen 50lb amnesia but then I only use it for hook snoods. My rig main bodies are all done with 50 lb grey Greased Weasel these days after tackle shop man suggested it a while back. Seems to stay straight and abrasion free if that helps.

don't risk it, it ain't worth a snap off casting(it don't take long for 40lb to get a nick in it, and then your just waiting for an accident to happen).i always tie my traces in min of 60lb-remember the old equasion 10lb for every once plus 10lb i.e 5oz lead= 60lb shock leader, so it figure u want to be using a min of the same on your traces!, remember that the trace has to take the abrasion on the sea bed etc. and yep i think we've all done that one( spent an whole evening trace building, only to realise you've tied it with the wrong lb line!-doh)

i use a lot of memor-x(ultima) it comes on a small spool(50 meters) is clear, cheap and knots really well without kinking! (around £3.00 a spool)i've tried a lot of the more expensive co-polymers but at the moment this is the line i use.the thing with line is not to get fooled by brands and price tags, as they all come from the same dozen factorys around the world, so a lot of it is down to personal experience, that said i don't think you'll go far wrong if you go by my recomendation!.

As Eccles said, Greased Weasel or i sometimes use the Grays shock leader in 60 or 80 lb.

Keep those traces you've done up. Use it with 4oz lead then. Won't come to waste. Sometimes we can get away with using 4 oz instead of 5 oz leads. I can get away with 2 oz leads fitted with gemini grip heads, when fishing 50 metres out on 30lb b/s power pro braid mainline for sea bass.
Amnesia is normally for hooklinks.... 15lb to 25lb.
Greased Weasel great for trace body ...50 - 60lbs..
;D
