I dont know if I have just been unlucky or not but I recently purchased a pair of these babys having tried a friends out and fallen in love with them.I had to send one back to Penn immediately because the magnetic brake "knob" just turned aimlessly and didnt engage the magnets and now the other one has gone the same way,I am by no means heavy handed and have only used the reels three times - anyone else out there heard of this ailment with them???

Dunno if it's the same thing, but I'm always knocking the magnet setting on my 525 from slow to fast by accident. After that it's bird-o-rama...

Same as colbythecodking, wouldn't bother with the super mag xtra, more of a tournament reel

I hafta say I expected better for £150-00.Its the same reel that went last time because I could see where the side plate had been removed, hopefully it will get sorted properly this time,I have to say they are very helpful and prompt at Penn up in Glasgae in fixing(albeit temporarily in this case)and returning the reel to you FOC

haven't heard that sort of prob with the 525 before?, but heres a great tip for stopping the sliding mag from moving between casts, the sliding button only costs about £1.75 each so what i do is to file them down to a smaller bump, that way you don't knock it when reeling in, and if you get rid of the reel just replace it with a new one for a few pence!
