I have had a Demon for 3 years and I love it.
For Cod in the winter in sensible depths of water its a pleasure and you will not be over gunned for Smurfs in the summer.
Has the right sort of bend in the tide which shows bites but does not bounce your lead out when the odd large wave comes along. Then when you have an obstreperous Smoothhound on, it has the power to win, but an action that makes having the fish on a joy.
However if you want something which will cast 8oz & half a Mackerel for Tope, or big baits in deep water for Rays, it struggles a bit.
I use me old Daiwa TDU 410 Amorphous Whisker for that.

I use the Diawa TDU 410 Amorphous Whisker and my friend has the Zziplex Sea RaiderI+II , named after 'Sea Raider' boat at Dungy which we used to fish from. Raider 2 longer and heavier than Diawa. I prefer the old Diawa slightly over the Raider 2, both of these very good for deaper water + large baits.

Yep, I'm another vote for the Team Daiwa. I have the 2-8oz and it sounds to be just what you're after if you want something softer. Great softer tip but huge power in the mid and butt sections - great fun when you hook something decent.
Also, rings are big enough to use a fixed spool if you so wish. I've been playing with this lately and I might just be a convert. Need a very strong fixed spool though.

As an owner of both a Conoflex Demon and a Daiwa TDXU 2-8 there is no contest for me, the Demon is a far better rod. But ...........we are all differnt and really you should at least try an have a clasp of both even if you cant try em out

Squidhead M8, I have owned 2 tdu's 4/10oz for ages and they were top rods! but now i think the abu's are better! also the tdu's are quite stiff in the tip! I have also owned an abu esprit which was a lovely soft tipped rod! My latest acquisition is a abu suveran pro uptide 4/8oz which is quite a bit softer that the 10oz version you have. my m8 used it in Alderney last year for everything from 1lb bream to 40lb tope! hope this helps Ross
