Just come off the phone to a mate who fished a comp at the Portland end of Chesil. Apparently it was fishing well, a 20lb cod came up amongst plenty of codling of 4 -6lb & some clonking whiting & big pout. Plenty of dogs & the cod/codling were even coming on sandeel baits intended for the dogfish. Bridging camp end saw the better quality fish so well worth the shingle trek!

westerlys are a pain on chesil too but as soon as they stop the place can come alive, right now there are codling/cod, big whiting, big pout and a few congers being caught not to mention dogs. now is the time to make the most of these recent seemingly non-stop gales. cant wait till thursday!!!

Good luck for thursday, Has it been a good start to the cod fishing up there generally or have these winds killed it off a bit? Pete

cheers guys, i'll do my best. i havnt done too well on the whiting this year so im gonna target them on one rod and cod on the other, hopefully there are still some specimen whiting about upto 2lb. the gales we had recently should keep the cod in for abit but too much of these easterlies scare em off, thats why im going sooner rather than later
